Laser Gum Therapy for Efficient Gum Disease Treatment

If you have been diagnosed with gum disease, Dr. Nathan Brown may recommend laser gum therapy as part of your treatment plan. We use LANAP® laser gum surgery, a minimally-invasive procedure that treats the infection in the mouth without scalpels and sutures.

Stages of Gum Disease

Gum disease is a progressive disease that may be linked to a number of general health issues. Fortunately, gum disease is avoidable by preventing plaque and tartar buildup around the teeth, and by taking care of your overall health to reduce inflammation in the body. The first stage is gingivitis where plaque and bacteria build up around the gum line. If left untreated, gingivitis progresses to periodontitis where pockets form around the teeth and bacteria starts to destroy the tissues. Advanced periodontitis causes irreversible damage to the bone and gums, and may result in loose teeth and bone loss.
